3 New Kettlebells
February 19, 2009 by admin
I’ve been kettlebell training for quite some time now. The company responsible for the recent interest in kettlebell training, Dragon Door didn’t even have kettlebells available. I remember getting on their pre-order list and checking my door every afternoon in hope taht they arrived.
I order two full sets immediatley. I didn’t even need to give them a test run, I just knew that I would love training with kettlebells. And honestly, I really never lost interest. My focus may have changed from time to time but it’s very rare that a day goes by without me picking up and kettlebell and using it in some manner.
Somedays it’s just to get the blood flowing, other days it’s for a more focused training session.
After a few years of training with kettlebell me and my friends from the Philadelphia Kettlebell Club started to become interested in kettlebell sport. We really had no clue what GS was all about back then but we had some fun competitions even though our numbers sucked. Our numbers did actually increase and reach some respectable levels in time but real life stepped in for many of us and kettlebell competitions took a back seat to fatherhood.
Since then the kettlebell training world has changed quite a bit. More information became available for Russia and Eastern Europe. Along with that information came the Professional or Competition kettlebell.
I’ve palyed around with competition kettlebells but I recently picked up 3 new comp bells from my good friend Bill Fox.
I can’t wait to dig in and start working with these bells everyday. First on my list is to increase my 1-arm Long Cycle Clean and Jerk numbers. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve been training for the last year and the last few months have been focusing on Comp level fitness. I have put my self forward for the first official GS comp in the UK (London) organised by CJ Swaby and Jonathan Lewis of the IKFF. I’m working on being at 24kg (53lbs) standard by July, progress is slow and I’m digging in with everything I’ve got I love the sport and will never leave it as its totally me.
I have followed your blog for quite a while now and I thank you with all my heart! you guys have kept me going along with my friends of the KB community around the globe. What a great sport and fantastic culture you have started.
Keep them bells Swinging!!
