Advanced Kettlebell Training- The Kettlebell Power-Bomb.
October 28, 2008 by admin
During Kettlebell Athletics’ Kettlebell Training Workshops we’re often asked about the Kettlebell Power-Bomb, what is it used for? How to add it into a kettlebell training program? When would you use it and what physical qualities does it enhance.
I’ve already written an article on Kettlebell Power-Metrics, or Overspeed Eccentrics where I go over the benefits of the Kettlebell Power-Bomb. You can find that article here: Kettlebell Power-Metrics.
Needless to say, the Kettlebell Power-Bomb is an advanced Kettlebell Swing variation that should only be attempted by qualified coaches and athletes. Although it is safer in some regards than plyometrics, it should still be treated as an advanced variation.
Personally, Kettlebell Athletics uses the Kettlebell Power-Bomb as a stand-alone variation or as part of a complex. If used as part of a complex, we’ll place the Power-Bomb before a slower strength move such as deadlifts or back squats and perform several low set reps before each set of deadlifts or squats.
If used alone, we still perform it for low reps sets with ample rest between sets as well to develop power and speed.

Good stuff guys!
