Kettlebell Snatches- How to NOT Bang Your Wrist

April 7, 2010 by admin

The Kettlebell Snatch is one of the most beneficial kettlebell exercises. However, Kettlebell Snatches are also one Kettlebell exercise that people have a hard time learning.

There are several factors that can hinder your learning the Kettlebell Snatch. The most common is impact on your wrist while learning the exact timing and rhythm.

Here’s a technique that I’ve been playing around with lately. It’s basically changing the position of your hand a full 108 degrees.

Check out the video below, try it out and please give me your feedback. I’ve had very good success with this technique so far, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Improved Healthcare through Kettlebells?

March 30, 2010 by admin

With the recent passing of the health care bill, America is now more polarized than ever.

Strangely enough, this past weekend Pamela and I were interviewed by BJ Gaddour of WorkoutMuse.com Our talked quickly turned towards a unique old school approach to health care used by the former Soviet Union.

In the interview we covered the history of kettlebell training, general safety and guidelines, discussed the benefits of using kettlebells, and went through the FOUR killer kettlebell workout templates that make up our new Workout Muse release…Kettlebell Kaos.

When discussing the history of kettlebell training, I pointed out that at one point the Russian government found “kettlebelling” so vital to the country that it made it part of it’s national health care plan.

There were 3 major reason for this policy in that kettlebells:

1.) Keep the population fit

2.) Lower Health Care cost

3.) Increase the work capacity of the population.

How cool is that? The kettlebell was actually a part of government policy!!
They used the kettleebell for 5 main reasons:
1.) Safe and effective technique
2.) Very low risk of injury
3.) Easily adaptable to small group or individual training
4.) Easy to reach a wide spectrum of the population
5.) Durable and inexpensive!

Makes you think about how the whole American “sick care” approach could use some re-working. A little prevention can go a long way… or better yet, a little kettlebelling can go a long way ;)

Kettlebell- Burpees with Kettlebells

March 16, 2010 by admin

I usually prefer to stay with traditional kettlebell exercises for our kettlebell workouts as well as the workouts for our clients and athletes.

But sometimes it’s just fun to add in some metabolic suck into your kettlebell training routine. This kettlebell exercise and it’s variations work quite well.

By the way, tomorrow we’ll be closing registration for our 1-Day Kettlebell Training Certification at Notre Dame Highschool in New Jersey on March 21st. You can go here to sign up and for further details: Kettlebell Certification for Fitness & Sport Pros

March 10, 2010 by admin

As we’ve previously stated one of the things we love most about what we do, is that it allows us to travel around the United States teaching other fitness professionals about the training we love the most.

We often travel just north of our own kettlebell training facility in Philadelphia, to New York City, below is the group photo from the February 2010 Kettlebell Athletics Kettlebell Certification.
